The U.S. Coast Guard successfully rescued five crew members from the fishing vessel Ocean Bay after it ran aground near Umnak Island in the Aleutian Islands on April 2, 2026. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak hoisted all five individuals to safety with no injuries reported, following a coordinated response with the cutter Waesche and a "Good Samaritan" vessel. On April 3, 2026, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Search and Rescue team executed a night-time helicopter extraction of two climbers stranded in Black Velvet Canyon after getting off-route during a descent.
