Sheriff Wants Hikers To Be Protected After Mount Baldy Incidents
Sheriff Shannon Dicus, who is a sheriff in San Bernardino County wants to push lawmakers into protecting the lives of hikers who plan on visiting Mt. Baldy after many reports of hikers going missing.
Despite numerous discussions with the forest service, Dicus said he is “disappointed” proposed safety measures have not been implemented. He hopes legislation can be enacted to save lives with the support of U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu and the forest service. Read more here
I commend what Sheriff Dicus is doing. With many reports of missing hikers and deaths on Mt. Baldy, I think this is a very prominent idea in order to protect people who plan on visiting the area. There need to be more precautions when it comes to the safety of others. We hope that things change in order to keep people safe when hiking up on Mt. Baldy. Please be safe out there!
