LASD Encourages Hikers To Write A SAR Plan Before Hiking
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is encourage hikers to complete a search and rescue plan before going on their hike in order to strengthen their safety and just in case someone is lost.
The worksheet, downloadable from the LASD’s website, could be crucial, regardless of weather conditions, and should be given to a responsible person who will provide the information to Law Enforcement / Search and Rescue if the hikers fail to return as scheduled. Read more here
What do you think about this idea? I think this idea seems beneficial and helpful for officers and SAR teams to know where you'll be just in case you ever get lost, the team will come to rescue you. I believe that all states should require hikers to fill out a SAR plan, so that way it would be quicker for SAr teams to come to the rescue. I looked at the plan and it seems pretty easy to fill( for those who want to take a look at the SAR plan, please read the article). If you live in the Los Angeles area and you plan on going hiking whether with a group or going solo, then you should absolutely fill the SAR plan out. Please be safe out there!
